Expression lines happen to everyone. Frown, squint, or smile enough times and the creases start to stick around, even when your face is relaxed. These lines are caused by muscle movement, and no serum can stop a muscle from contracting.

Botox works by temporarily relaxing the specific muscles that create these creases. The skin smooths out, the lines soften, and your face still moves naturally.

At KKC Clinic, we assess your facial anatomy first, identify which muscles are overactive, and tailor the treatment to how your face actually moves.

Results may vary with each individual

How Botox Works

Every expression line is driven by a nerve signal telling a muscle to contract. Botox interrupts that signal. The muscle relaxes, the skin above it smooths out, and the crease softens.

It doesn’t shut the muscle down. It dials back the contraction enough that your skin stops folding into deep lines, while your expressions still look like you.

This works for dynamic wrinkles, the lines caused by movement. If a wrinkle is visible even when your face is completely still and has been there for years, that’s a static wrinkle. Botox can keep it from getting deeper, but won’t erase it.

For deep static lines, treatments like laser resurfacing work on the skin’s surface directly.

Jawline contouring and masseter treatment both target the jaw muscle but for different goals. Contouring focuses on slimming the face shape; masseter treatment addresses jaw clenching and grinding.

Botox also treats excessive sweating by blocking nerve signals to sweat glands, with results lasting 6–10 months.

A standard upper face combination (forehead, frown lines, and crow’s feet) starts from around 11,000 THB. Treating several areas together often looks more natural than treating one in isolation.

A typical full-face plan ranges from 60 to 120 units, mapped to your facial movement during consultation.

What to Expect

1. Consultation

Your doctor examines your facial anatomy, expression patterns, and goals. You’ll discuss which areas to treat, how many units, and what kind of result you’re looking for.

First-time treatments are typically conservative, with doses calibrated to your individual anatomy rather than a standard number.

This is an assessment, not a sales conversation. If Botox isn’t the right fit, we’ll tell you.

2. Preparation

Avoid blood-thinning medications (aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen) for five days before your appointment. Skip alcohol for 24 hours and supplements that increase bruising risk: vitamin E, fish oil, and flaxseed oil. No other special preparation needed.

3. Treatment

A fine needle is used to inject small amounts of Botox into targeted muscles. Most people describe it as a brief pinch. The whole process takes 15–30 minutes depending on how many areas you’re treating. Numbing cream is available on request.

Small bumps at injection sites, similar to mosquito bites, are normal and flatten within 10–15 minutes.

4. Aftercare

You can return to work and normal activities straight away. To support the best results:

  • Stay upright for 4 hours after treatment
  • No exercise for 24 hours
  • Don’t rub or massage the treated areas
  • Avoid facial massage, gua sha, or at-home skin devices for 2 weeks
  • Skip saunas, hot yoga, and heavy heat exposure for 24–48 hours

Results and Maintenance

Results aren’t instant. Think of it like a dimmer switch: the effect builds gradually over the first two weeks. The sweet spot is usually 4–6 weeks, when everything looks its most natural. If you’re planning around an event, book at least a month ahead.

Most people rebook every 3–4 months, when movement starts fully returning. With regular treatments, many find they need fewer units over time.

Preventative Botox

You don’t have to wait for deep wrinkles to start treatment. Around 1 in 4 people getting Botox are now under 34, and most of them aren’t treating existing lines. They’re preventing new ones from setting in.

“Baby Botox” uses smaller doses to relax muscles just enough that creases don’t form in the first place. Regular treatment trains the muscles to contract less forcefully over time, which is why many people find they need fewer units as the years go on.

That said, more isn’t better. Starting too young with no visible lines, or treating more frequently than every three months, can work against you. Muscles thin out, and your body may build resistance to the product faster.

The practical starting point is when you notice lines sticking around at rest, not a specific age on the calendar.

Botox Brands Available at KKC Clinic

We stock three FDA-approved botulinum toxin brands. All work the same way, but they differ in formulation, spread, and how people respond to them.

Allergan Botox (USA)

กล่องและขวดบรรจุโบทูลินั่มท็อกซินไทป์เอ ระบุ 100 ยูนิต ผลิตโดย Allergan วางอยู่บนพื้นเรียบ

The original and most widely studied brand, with over 574 peer-reviewed articles. Known for precise, predictable results. The most popular choice globally.

Dysport (UK)

กล่องและขวดบรรจุคลอสตริเดียมโบทูลินั่มไทป์เอ ระบุ 500 ยูนิต/ขวด ผลิตโดย Ipsen วางอยู่บนพื้นเรียบ

Diffuses more broadly than Botox, which can be an advantage for larger areas like the forehead. Some people notice a slightly faster onset.

Xeomin (Germany)

กล่องและขวดบรรจุคลอสตริเดียมโบทูลินั่มนิวโรท็อกซินไทป์เอ (150kD) ระบุ 100 LD50 ยูนิต วางอยู่บนพื้นเรียบ

A “naked” formulation with no accompanying proteins. This may lower the risk of developing antibody resistance over time, making it a good option if other brands start to feel less effective.

Having three brands means we can match the product to your needs. For a more detailed comparison, see our guide to the best Botox brands.

Safety and Side Effects

The most common side effects are mild: slight bruising at injection sites, temporary swelling, or a tension-type headache that resolves within a day or two.

Serious complications are very rare when treatment is performed by a qualified professional using genuine product. That last part matters. The risk with Botox isn’t the product itself, it’s who’s injecting it and where the product comes from.

We use only authentic Allergan Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin from authorized distributors, and all treatments are performed by trained medical professionals.

Botox is not suitable for everyone. You should avoid treatment if you:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Have a neuromuscular condition such as myasthenia gravis
  • Have an active skin infection in the treatment area
  • Have a known allergy to botulinum toxin

Frequently Asked Questions

Botox typically lasts 3–4 months. How long results hold depends on the treatment area, your muscle activity, metabolism, and the brand used. Areas like the forehead and frown lines tend to hold longer than crow’s feet, where the muscles are used more frequently. With regular treatments, some people find their results last longer over time as the muscles gradually weaken.

Botox results aren’t instant. You’ll typically notice the first changes within 3–7 days as the muscles start to relax. Full results settle in around 10–14 days. If you’re preparing for an event, book your treatment at least a month beforehand.

Most people describe Botox injections as a brief pinch. The needle is very fine, and each injection takes just a few seconds. The upper face tends to be the least sensitive area; the jawline and neck may feel slightly more. Numbing cream is available on request, though most find it unnecessary.

Every 3–4 months is the standard maintenance schedule. Rather than booking on a fixed calendar, we recommend rebooking when you notice movement fully returning. It’s best not to go more frequently than every three months. Over-treating can thin the muscles over time and may increase the chance of developing resistance to the product. Many people find that with regular treatment, they can gradually extend the gap between sessions.

Botox has been FDA-approved for cosmetic use since 2002, with over 574 peer-reviewed articles and tens of millions of treatments performed worldwide. Common side effects are mild: slight bruising, temporary swelling, or a short-lived headache. The most important safety factor is choosing a qualified provider who uses genuine, FDA-approved product.

Yes, you can stop Botox at any time. It is not addictive and creates no physical dependency. If you stop treatment, your muscles gradually return to their normal activity and lines reappear at their natural rate. Your skin won’t sag or look worse than it did before. It returns to where it would have been without treatment.

There is no set age to start getting Botox. The practical trigger is when you notice lines at rest: creases that are visible even when your face is relaxed, or makeup settling into a fold that wasn’t there before. Some people reach that point in their late 20s, others not until their 40s. Starting earlier with lower doses can help slow the formation of deeper lines.

Botox and dermal fillers work differently. Botox relaxes the muscles that cause expression lines like forehead creases, frown lines, and crow’s feet. Fillers add volume to areas that have lost structure, such as hollow cheeks, thin lips, or deep nasolabial folds. Some people benefit from both. A combined approach is sometimes called a liquid facelift.

The number of units depends on the treatment area, your muscle strength, and the result you’re after. As a rough guide: forehead lines typically require around 20 units, frown lines around 20, and crow’s feet around 15. A full-face treatment can range from 60 to 120 units. Your doctor determines the exact count during consultation after assessing your facial movement.

Botox won’t leave your face looking frozen when the dosing and placement are done properly. The goal is to reduce muscle action, not eliminate it. You’ll still raise your eyebrows, smile, and show expressions, just without the deep creasing. An experienced injector balances the dose to soften lines while keeping your face looking natural.

Thailand has well-established medical tourism infrastructure and licensed aesthetic clinics. The key is choosing a clinic that uses genuine, FDA-approved products and qualified medical professionals. We use the same Allergan Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin available in the US and Europe. The main difference is price, not product quality.

At KKC Clinic, Botox starts from 1,600 THB depending on the treatment area. A standard upper face combination (forehead, frown lines, and crow’s feet) starts from around 11,000 THB. See the pricing table above for a full breakdown by area. Final cost depends on the number of areas treated, units required, and the brand selected.
