Most fillers add volume by sitting under the skin. Ellansé works differently. It restores volume right away, then prompts your skin to rebuild its own collagen, so the result keeps improving for months after your treatment.

That dual action is what sets Ellansé apart. It is a collagen biostimulator made from polycaprolactone (PCL), not a standard hyaluronic acid filler. At KKC Clinic we use Ellansé-S, and every treatment starts with a face-to-face assessment so your doctor can tailor it to your features.

How Ellansé Works

From around the age of 25, the skin makes less collagen each year. That decline shows up as volume loss, fine lines, and a tired look. Ellansé works with this process rather than masking it, so the improvement reads as better skin, not “work done.”

It’s made of two parts that work on different timelines.

Immediate volume. The treatment sits in a smooth carrier gel (CMC) that restores lost volume and softens lines as soon as it is placed. This is the part you see straight away.

Long-term collagen. Tiny polycaprolactone (PCL) microspheres stay behind as the gel is gradually absorbed. They prompt your own cells to produce fresh collagen, rebuilding support from within over the following weeks and months. Both components break down naturally in the body over time.

What Ellansé Can Treat

Ellansé works best where collagen loss and mild sagging show, and where a subtle lift helps. Common treatment areas include:

  • Cheeks to restore lost volume and definition
  • Temples to soften hollowing
  • Jawline for a cleaner, more defined edge
  • Chin for balance and projection
  • Nasolabial folds, the lines that run from the nose to the mouth
  • Marionette lines, from the corners of the mouth downward
  • Backs of the hands to replace lost volume

Ellansé is not the right choice everywhere. We do not use it in the lips or the under-eye area. The skin there is mobile, and because Ellansé is not reversible, that can raise the risk of lumps.

Those areas are better treated with a flexible, reversible filler. For the lips, lip filler is the better option, and under-eye filler suits the delicate tear-trough area.

Ellansé also pairs well with hyaluronic acid. Your doctor may combine it with a dermal filler when an area needs immediate, precise projection alongside Ellansé’s longer-term collagen support.

Ellansé vs Other Collagen Treatments

There are several ways to restore volume and firmness, and they work differently. The simplest way to think about it: hyaluronic acid fillers fill, while biostimulators like Ellansé help your skin rebuild.

TreatmentImmediate volumeStimulates collagenTypically lastsReversible
Ellansé-S (PCL)YesYesUp to 12 monthsNo
Sculptra (PLLA)No, gradualYesUp to 24 monthsNo
Radiesse (CaHA)YesYes12–18 monthsNo
HA fillersYesMinimal6–18 monthsYes

A few practical differences:

Ellansé vs Sculptra. Both stimulate collagen, but Sculptra builds it gradually with no immediate volume and usually needs two to three sessions. Ellansé gives an instant result in a single session, then keeps improving.

Ellansé vs Radiesse. These are the closest match, since both add volume immediately and stimulate collagen. Radiesse is denser, which suits sharper jawline and chin work. Ellansé feels smooth and is often chosen for an even, natural lift.

Ellansé vs HA fillers. Standard dermal fillers give instant volume, last around 6–18 months, and can be dissolved if needed. The real difference is underneath: HA simply fills, while Ellansé also stimulates your own collagen to improve skin quality over time. Ellansé cannot be reversed, though, so careful placement matters.

Your doctor will recommend the right option, or a combination, based on your face and goals. You can see the full range on our biostimulators page.

What Happens in Your Session

Every Ellansé treatment at KKC Clinic starts with a proper assessment.

1. Consultation and assessment. Your doctor examines your face under good lighting, talks through your goals, and checks that Ellansé is the right fit. This free consultation is also when we map exactly where the product should go.

2. Comfort. We apply numbing cream to the skin beforehand, and your doctor may use a local anaesthetic for added comfort. Most people find the treatment very manageable, with only minor sensation.

3. The treatment. Using a fine needle or cannula, your doctor places the product in the planned areas. A single session is usually enough, and it typically takes about 30–60 minutes depending on how many areas are treated.

Most people notice some added volume straight away. The collagen-building effect then develops over the following weeks, which we cover next.

Results & Recovery

Ellansé gives you a head start and a slow build. The first change is immediate, and the real improvement develops as your collagen responds.

Straight after: Some added volume and a smoother look from the carrier gel. Mild swelling or redness is normal and usually settles within a day or two. Bruising is possible but not common.

Over the next few weeks: As the gel is absorbed, your own collagen builds in its place. Most people notice firmer, more lifted skin, with the full effect around three months in.

How long it lasts: Results from Ellansé-S typically last up to a year, though this varies from person to person. Because it works through your own collagen, the change fades gradually rather than dropping off suddenly.

Downtime is minimal, and most people return to normal activities the same day. To get the best result, follow a few simple steps for the first few days:

  • Avoid heat: saunas, hot showers, and intense sun
  • Skip strenuous exercise for a couple of days
  • Do not massage or press firmly on the treated areas
  • Keep skincare gentle, and stay hydrated

Makeup is fine the same day if you would like to cover any redness.

Is Ellansé Safe?

Ellansé is made from polycaprolactone and a carrier gel, both of which the body breaks down naturally over time. The material has a long record of use in medicine. As with any injectable, the main thing that keeps it safe is who is holding the needle.

Most side effects are mild and short-lived:

  • Redness, swelling, or tenderness at the injection sites
  • Occasional bruising
  • These usually settle within a few days

The risk worth understanding is lumps or small nodules, which can happen if the product is placed unevenly or too close to the surface. Careful, even technique is how we avoid this, which is why Ellansé should always be done by an experienced doctor. Unlike hyaluronic acid, Ellansé cannot be dissolved on demand, so thoughtful placement matters even more.

Ellansé is not suitable for everyone. We will usually advise against it if you:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Have an autoimmune or connective tissue condition
  • Have a known allergy to any of its ingredients
  • Are prone to raised or keloid scars
  • Have a bleeding disorder or take blood-thinning medication
  • Have an active skin infection or breakout in the area

Your doctor reviews your medical history at the consultation to make sure it is a safe choice for you. At KKC Clinic we use genuine, regulated product and tailor every treatment to your skin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ellansé is a collagen-stimulating injectable made from polycaprolactone (PCL) microspheres suspended in a smooth carrier gel. The gel restores volume immediately, while the PCL prompts your skin to produce its own collagen over the following months. Both components break down naturally in the body.

Ellansé does more than fill. Standard hyaluronic acid fillers add volume that the body slowly absorbs, while Ellansé also stimulates your own collagen, so results last longer and skin quality improves. The trade-off is that Ellansé cannot be dissolved on demand the way hyaluronic acid can.

Ellansé and Sculptra are both collagen biostimulators, so neither is simply better than the other. Ellansé gives immediate volume in a single session, while Sculptra builds gradually over two to three sessions with no instant result. Your doctor will recommend the better fit for your goals.

Results from Ellansé-S, the version we use, typically last up to a year, and this varies from person to person. Because the effect comes from your own collagen, it fades gradually rather than stopping suddenly.

Ellansé at KKC Clinic starts from ฿35,000 per cc. The final cost depends on how many areas you treat and how much product is needed, which your doctor confirms at the consultation.

Ellansé treatment is comfortable for most people. We apply numbing cream beforehand, and a local anaesthetic can be used for added comfort, so you usually feel only minor sensation during the injections.

Most people need only one session of Ellansé for a full result. This is one of its advantages over treatments that require a course of appointments.

Ellansé cannot be dissolved on demand, unlike hyaluronic acid fillers. It breaks down naturally over time instead, which is why careful, expert placement matters and why we assess thoroughly before treating.

Good candidates for Ellansé are adults who want to restore volume and firmness with natural, longer-lasting results. It suits early signs of aging as well as more established volume loss. It is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for people with certain autoimmune conditions.

Ellansé is not used in the lips or the under-eye area. These zones move a lot and need a reversible filler, so we use hyaluronic acid there instead, such as lip filler or under-eye filler.

Ellansé is registered with the Thai FDA as a medical device and is CE-marked in Europe. It is not approved by the United States FDA, which regulates a separate market. At KKC Clinic we use only genuine, regulated product.
